Grooming Frequency & At-Home Care

  • How often should I get my dog groomed?

These are general recommendations, and some variables, such as how much time your pup spends outside or certain breeds, may change our recommendations, but a rule of thumb is:

    • Double-coated breeds: Professional grooming every 6–8 weeks, with at-home brushing once a week (or 2–3 times weekly during heavy shedding seasons) to remove loose undercoat and prevent mats .
    • Long-coated breeds: Every 4 weeks to prevent mats and tangles .
    • Medium-to-short coats: Every 4–6 weeks for optimal coat health and shine.
    • Smooth-coated dogs: Every 6–8 weeks, unless they spend significant time outdoors.

At-home maintenance: Brush according to coat type—double-coated dogs weekly (or more often during heavy shedding), and other coats 2–3 times per week to distribute natural oils and minimize tangles

  • How can I avoid my pet getting matted between grooms?

Brush 2–3 times weekly (or daily during shedding).

Use a detangling spray before brushing.

  • Can I set a recurring appointment and get the same pet stylist?

Yes, you can set a recurring appointment and request the same pet stylist.

Pet Eligibility & Special Needs

  • Do you groom all breeds and sizes of dogs and cats?

Yes—we groom every dog breed and size, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Cat grooming is also available.

  • How old does a puppy need to be for the first groom?

    The following is recommended:

Familiarization sessions: As early as 8 weeks for gentle handling, brushing, and nail trims.

First full groom: Around 10–12 weeks, once initial vaccinations are complete, to ensure your puppy’s safety and comfort .

  • What if my pet needs a sedative?

We cannot administer sedatives. If your pet experiences anxiety, please consult your veterinarian for pre-grooming calming options. Gradual introductions and positive reinforcement often help pets acclimate over time.
